Welcome to my first posting of Lift Assist!

Hi, I'm Miguel and here's a photo of my lift assist.
It's a home made (senior project) device that helps people off the toilet.
It works off the water pressure and is rather rudimentary but it's a first step.
I designed the lift assist as a senior thesis at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
The lift assist will be on display at the 2008 Maker Faire for anyone to try it out.

Hello! I stopped by and was talking about a couple of different projects.

Disability Studies / blog carnival:

Whirlwind http://www.whirlwindwheelchair.org/

You might try telling these places about your lift assist:

http://www.cartuk.org/

http://www.un.org/issues/m-disabl.html (Worth looking around, here, to figure out who to email)

So, I wonder if you are trying to sell the plans, or if you might put up the design free/open source?

I was just thinking on what Whirlwind does with its wheelchair plans. And why not have some kind of wiki set up, for people to post designs, plans, ideas, for assistive devices that are cheap to build (but as we talked about, cost thousands and thousands of dollars through medical companies) In short bust the monopolies by open source hardware.
